Welcome to Kennebec Riverside The Inn By The River.

Spend your next vacation on the doorstep to the Maine wilderness. Create your own adventure. Raft, canoe or kayak, hike, bike, ATV, fish, hunt, rock climb, or just escape to the beauty of Maine. The cabins are central to outdoor adventures and also to destinations such as Greenville, Rangeley, and Jackman. A short walk or drive takes you to the general store, restaurants, and pubs. Each cabin sits high on the water’s edge, just below the confluence of the Kennebec and Dead Rivers. There is a special energy from the river’s flow here which can be felt from each cabin’s private deck. Watch the rafts and kayaks float by, a fisherman cast a fly, or the eagles soar!

Paddle! The Forks, Maine is known as the whitewater capital of the east. For adventurous spirits, the Kennebec and Dead Rivers offer exciting, world class whitewater. For milder spirits, Moxie Lake and the lower Kennebec River offer relaxing, flatwater touring.

Snowmobile! Oops, sorry. The cabins are no longer open in the winter, but come enjoy the spring, summer, and fall fun instead!

Hike! Trails lead to the peaks of Coburn Mountain at 3700', and Mosquito Mountain at 2200', Moxie Mountain at 2900'. All provide breathtaking views. Other interesting hikes include Moxie Falls (the highest in Maine at 93'), Granny's Cap, and Shutdown Mountain. The Appalachian Trail crosses Route 201 just eight miles south of K.R.Cabins. It leads east over Pleasant Mountain at 2500', past the head of Moxie Lake, and up over Bald Mountain at 2600' with many options for day hikes.

Bike! The area's numerous unused logging roads offer many destinations for the mountain biker.

Climb! The cliff at "Joe's Hole" near the head of Moxie Lake beckons rock climbers. Guided trips available at local outfitters.

Fish! The Kennebec River is thought to be the finest wild trout fishery in the eastern U.S. You'll find brown trout, rainbow trout, and landlocked salmon in its clear waters. It is rumored that the best salmon fishing spots on the river used to be right in front of the cabins. Local guides can be arranged to take you to other "secret" spots - we can't give them away here!

Hunt! Sorry, cabins are no longer open for November hunting season.

ATV! There is ATV trail access directly across the street, with options for trips towards Greenville, Jackman, Bingham, and more!

Sightsee/"Leaf Peep"! Route 201, leading to K.R.Cabins, is as a National Scenic Byway. The climb through mountains beside Wyman Lake and the Kennebec River begins at Bingham and continues through The Forks to the Canadian Border. The winding road is among the most scenic in Maine and the autumn foliage is always spectacular!
